Four Tuesdays beginning July 14th, 8:00 – 9:00 PM

POSITIVITY BIAS
Stories to Reframe Our Experiences During These Turbulent Times

How do you handle situations that disrupt your schedule? How do you deal with obstacles in your path, or sudden emergencies that put your life on hold?

Through a mix of nature, nurture, social conditioning and free will, we each possess a personalized lens that frames, forms, clouds and distorts the way we see ourselves and the world around us. In order to live in the most meaningful and effective way possible, each of us needs to continually assess and adjust the default frames we have developed.

Our ability to transform lies in our ability to re-frame. Each class of this series will be based on true stories of the Rebbe that will offer practical wisdom for positive living. Join us as we weave together these ever-so-timely inspiring stories that will uplift our spirit and reshape our perspective as we weather these challenging and turbulent times

July 14th - Developing a Positivity Bias

Few of us are fully aware of the biases that shape our experience of life, and we seldom pay attention to the default frames through which we see the world. Some seek to remedy these biases by trying to calibrate their perspective with a more objective view. This class explores how we can better serve ourselves and others by adjusting our vantage points to seek out only the positive in ourselves, in others, and in all of life’s experiences.

July 21st - Developing a Good Eye

Would it make a real difference if we followed the maxim, “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”?

Does changing our outlook on others merely effectuate change within ourselves, or could it somehow affect others as well? This session introduces a potentially life-changing teaching about how we can impact those around us for the better.

July 28th - An Eye for Others

"Limud Zechut" meaning the “study of another’s merit” implies a conscious, concerted, and creative effort to discover the often-hidden merits in others and reveal the presence of a redemptive spark within each individual.
Discover how your perspective of the others in your life actually impacts their behavior.

August 4th - Oy or Joy: The Ultimate Cure

It would seem like sage advice to always assume the worst. This way, you would be pleasantly surprised when things work out and never be disappointed when they don’t. This session makes a case to the contrary, exploring the logic and dynamics behind the spiritual power of positive thinking and the power of joy as a remedy for spiritual blockages that impede the flow of heaven’s abundant blessings.
